Forbes Park is a gated mountain community at 9000 feet, in the southern rockies' Sangre de Cristo Range on the eastern edge of the historic San Luis Valley of Colorado. It is characterized by its alpine meadows, aspen, spruce and fir forests, and several alpine lakes; a nature lover's paradise. The total area of Forbes Park is 13,046 acres, of which approximately 8,000 acres are comprised of approximately 3300 parcels ranging from 1 to 7 acres in size; the rest of the acreage is common land. The Forbes Park Land Owners Association (FPLOA) includes maintenance of roads, common areas and club house and trash removal. Only short-term camping is allowed, and covenants ensure that new construction fits into Forbes Park's natural, alpine setting. Roads are plowed in the winter and most of these parcels are accessible year-round. Hunting is not allowed in Forbes Park, but the National Forest with an abundance of wildlife is easily accessible from Forbes Park.
