Forbes Wagon Creek Ranch is located on the western slope of Colorado's Sangre De Cristo Mountains in Costilla County between 8,260 Ft. and 10,530 Ft. It is a gated, covenant protected community, located about 13 miles east of Fort Garland and covering more than 17,000 acres of alpine scenery, teaming with elk, deer, bear, cougars, turkey etc. There are 404 ranch properties, which are all 35-50 acres in size. Ranch owners have hunting privileges on the Ranch and a true hunters paradise! Own 40 Acres and hunt on about 8000 Acres if you allow hunting by other ranch owners on your 40 acres!. A limited number of the ranch parcels have access to electricity from the grid, most ranchowners that build cabins and mountain homes have installed alternative energy solutions (solar and wind). Some of them live here year around. The Forbes Wagon Creek Ranch Owners Association (FWCROA) maintains the roads in the summer season. In the winter season the ranch owners that live here year around have to clear the roads themselves or travel using tracked vehicles and snow mobiles. Only short-term camping is allowed, and covenants ensure that new construction fits into Forbes Wagon Creek's natural, alpine setting.
